• • General Appearance
Werewolves have three forms, human, half-phase, wolf (full-phase).
Werewolves look almost completely normal in their human form. Werewolves tend to have more scratchs, cuts, and scars on their body than the average human. Hair is usually unkempt, but that is not always the case. The half-phase form is exactly that, it is the shape between human and wolf. The half-phase can usually walk on it's hind limbs, is covered in fur, with features that vary in equality between human and a full-phase wolf. The full-phase is a wolf that does not look any different from natural wolves.
• • Growth and Development
Werewolves can be both born or created.
Born weres must be born to two werewolf parents. Much like their shapeshifter cousins, the time between conception to birth -nine months- is a "frozen period" where the mother cannot morph into a wolf due to a natural ward against injury or death for both mother and fetus. From the day of birth until puberty the child cannot control morphing. Coming in contact with the light of a full moon will cause a forced-phase every month until the child hits puberty at around nine to twenty years of age. During puberty, phasing becomes increasing controllable. Up until the point where they can avoid a monthly forced-phase altogether. Werewolves will continue to age up to age thirty-five, but some stop aging earlier.
Werewolves that were created undergo a similar situation. A single bite from a werewolf will cause the victim to undergo a forced-phase at the very next full-moon. The very first phase for this newly created werewolf is extremely painful, as there is cracking of bones and stretching of skin. After this first phase, however, phasing is no longer painful. Werewolves that are created will not be able to control the monthly full-moon phasing for several years and will force-phase every time they come in contact with the light of a full-moon. They will not be able to phase on their own for a few months. It is all about concentrating and focus until it becomes easier.
• • Facts
• "Were" is a nickname for werewolf.
• Were's live indefinitely, but can die from injury, dehydration, starvation, or the elements (hypothermia, etc), or prolonged contact with silver.
• Although weres can control their morphing to avoid monthly force-phasing, they can still feel the "pull" that force-phasing gives when they are in full-moon light.
• Unlike shapeshifters, younger werewolves tend to lose their human emotions when morphed. Anger, rage, panic, and fear are generally heightened feelings. Older werewolves keep most of their human feelings.
• Werewolves are an evolutionary branch of shifters and thus are cousins of shifters.
• Werewolves are very hostile toward their shifter cousins.
• Full-phase wolves cannot communicate like humans, only like wolves with their howling, yipping, and such. Half-phase morphs can still speak verbally but the voice is generally gruffer than when they were human, and sometimes resembles barking.
• Clothes cannot morph with the werewolf.
• Unlike shifters, morphing takes no energy for the werewolf.
• Shapeshifters and vampires cannot become werewolves and werewolves cannot become vampires or shapeshifters.
• Witches and humans are the only races that can be turned into werewolves. Witches who are turned into werewolves lose their witch abilities.
• Witches can enchant an amulet to render the effects of moonlight harmless. However, the amulet makes all phasing impossible while on the wearer.
• Vampires and werewolves use to be warring enemies but their mutual hatred toward the Kinship (shifter and witch alliance) brought peace between the two races and their own alliance.
